The Sharks have officially signed Tonga and Queensland representative China Polata on a two-year deal, effective from 2026, according to reports from sharks.com.au.

Polata has appeared in 18 NRLW games since making her debut with the Broncos in 2022 and has dedicated the past three seasons to the Cowboys.

Originally starting her career as a winger, the 23-year-old has shifted into a formidable second-rower and has the ability to play as a prop as well.

After overcoming an ACL injury, Polata participated in North Queensland's last three games this year, including an elimination-final match against her soon-to-be teammates at Cronulla. She is excited to take on new challenges in the Sutherland Shire.

Herman welcomed Polata to the Sharks, praising her talent and versatility.
