PNG Hunters Release Eight Players for Misconduct

The PNG Hunters, competing in the Queensland Cup, have announced the release of eight players ahead of the upcoming season. This decision comes as half of those let go were not retained due to behavioral and disciplinary concerns.

Among the released players are two representatives for Papua New Guinea: Jordan Pat and Khaiya Waiembi. Both forwards faced consequences following incidents related to alcohol and breaches of the club's code of conduct.

Additionally, Jarran Pitten and Limbi Henry were also released for not adhering to the professional standards expected by the PNG Hunters.

Other players not returning after the Christmas break for the second phase of pre-season training include Doa Tapako, Gregan Foremat, Joseph Kora, and Robert Gigami.

In a statement, the club remarked, "The completion of block 1 training reinforces the club's commitment to building a high-performance culture, both on and off the field, with strong emphasis placed on accountability, respect, and preparation."

They added, "After the completion of block 1, the club confirmed that the following players will not be retained for the pre-season block 2 training - including Jarran Pitten and Limbi Henry for disciplinary issues and not meeting the Hunters' professional standards; Jordan Pat and Khaiya Waiembi for alcohol-related disciplinary issues and breaches of the Hunters code of conduct."
