In a bold move that has sent shockwaves through the Rugby League world, Papua New Guinea hooker Edwin Ipape has snubbed NRL interest and committed to a MASSIVE six-year contract extension with the Leigh Leopards until 2031.

Having donned the Kumuls jersey on seven occasions, Ipape is widely regarded as one of the top hookers in the game outside of the NRL.

Despite tempting offers from Down Under, the hooker has opted to stay loyal to his current club in the British Super League.

Rumors swirled about potential NRL suitors vying for Ipape's signature, with whispers of multiple clubs expressing interest in securing his services for the upcoming season.

However, Ipape ultimately chose to stick with the Leopards and expressed his gratitude for the extended contract.

"I'm absolutely stoked to have the club's faith in me for the next six years.

It's a massive sign of trust and I'm ready to rise to the challenge," Ipape stated.

"My motivation to improve and the club's expectation for success remain unchanged.

It's game on, and I'm ready to tackle whatever comes my way."
