Let him Cook: Finals first then family footy the focus for Piakura

After Brisbane's thrilling qualifying final victory over Canberra, Brendan Piakura faced the possibility of a season-ending injury due to a suspected facial fracture, which prevented him from flying home.

Despite this concern, the Broncos' second-rower remained unfazed, calmly resting in the backseat as the club's wellbeing manager, Adam Walsh, drove him home.

This week, Piakura was cleared of any harm to his eye and is set to start against the Panthers in their sold-out preliminary final on Sunday. He is eager to seize the opportunity to compete in one of the most significant matches of his career.

With his standout talent, Piakura has made significant strides as a player this season, although he has also endured several injuries, including three head knocks. His time off the field has instilled in him a sense of patience and an appreciation for wearing the jersey, especially as coach Michael Maguire has shown readiness to adjust his lineup.
