Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V'Landys has announced that the number of games scheduled for the 2026 Las Vegas event will likely be reduced from four to three.
This decision comes after feedback from fans who found the nearly ten-hour marathon of rugby league matches to be too lengthy.
The initial Vegas event in 2025 featured two NRL games, followed by an additional two games including a women's Test match and an English Super League clash.
V'landys acknowledged that the extended schedule led to empty seats as fans left after their preferred game had concluded, stating, "I think we'll go back to three games.
I think four was too long.
You could tell because the fans left their seats, so when their game was over, there were empty seats." The goal is to keep fans engaged and in attendance throughout the event, which is more likely with a shorter schedule.
V'landys' decision to potentially cut the number of games aligns with the aim of providing an enjoyable and engaging experience for fans attending the Vegas event.
