Perth Bears Target Broncos' Kobe Hetherington

Brisbane Broncos forward Kobe Hetherington has reportedly attracted interest from the Perth Bears, as the NRL's newest expansion team prepares to form its inaugural roster starting November 1.

Primarily a lock but versatile enough to play throughout the forward pack, Hetherington's playing style has drawn comparisons to former State of Origin great Trevor Gillmeister, noted for his strong work ethic and aggression on both attack and defense.

Since his debut in 2021, Hetherington has recently hit his peak performance, becoming a consistent first-grade player, representing the Prime Minister's XIII, and emerging as a potential candidate for this year's Origin series.

After recently extending his contract at Red Hill for another season-turning down interest from the Manly Sea Eagles-Hetherington is now on the radar of the Perth Bears and will be eligible to negotiate with other teams when the window opens on November 1, according to The Courier-Mail.

Additionally, it is reported that Perth coach Mal Meninga shares a close relationship with Hetherington's father, Jason Hetherington, a former State of Origin representative for Queensland.

"Kobe has been excellent this year. He's had a real impact for us," Broncos coach Michael Maguire stated.
