The Perth Bears have landed a promising young player from another sport, signing Cooper Watters to a two-year contract to join their ranks.
Watters has made a name for himself in rugby union, showcasing his talent in the Australian Schoolboys and Australia's Sevens teams.
At just 20 years old, he will embark on his journey to NRL success by training with the North Sydney Bears NSW Cup squad until November.
Bears coach Mal Meninga believes Watters has the potential to become a standout player, emphasizing his strength in attack.
"Cooper is a trailblazer - just like the Bears - in making this move from rugby union to rugby league. He's dedicated to improving his game and has plenty of skill and plenty of speed," Meninga said in a Bears statement.
