The Perth Bears have made a historic announcement regarding their partnership with the North Sydney Bears, designating them as their primary rugby league pathways partner.
As one of the foundational clubs in New South Wales, North Sydney has been confirmed as the key pathways partner and representative teams partner for the NRL's newest expansion team.
This collaboration is timely for Perth, coinciding with the upcoming Under-17s Harold Matthews Cup and Under-19s SG Ball Cup competitions set to begin for the 2026 season. It provides Perth with a significant role in selecting young talent as they plan for the future.
Coach Mal Meninga remarked, "They are a valuable partner in the sustainable success of the Perth Bears and the game of rugby league in the West." He further emphasized, "Their history and traditions will be cemented in the foundations of the Perth Bears and will always be celebrated."
CEO Anthony De Ceglie also expressed his thoughts, stating, "The Perth Bears are a new NRL franchise, but nothing will ever change the fact that the birthplace and spiritual home of the 'Bears' in rugby league will always be North Sydney." He added, "The Bears brand is one of the most respected in rugby league, and this exclusive alignment with North Sydney ensures the players have access to a proven development system."
