The Perth Bears have forged a pivotal affiliation with the Brisbane Tigers, marking a significant development alliance in rugby league as they approach their NRL debut in 2027.
This partnership connects Western Australia's newest franchise with one of Queensland's well-established Hostplus Cup systems, providing the Bears with immediate access to a talented player pool and solid pathways infrastructure.
This announcement follows closely after the Bears established their main pathways partnership with the North Sydney Bears, reinforcing the relationship between the historic foundation club and its counterpart in the west.
"Partnering with a club that carries a legacy as significant and respected as the Brisbane Tigers is an honour," stated Perth Bears CEO Anthony De Ceglie.
He added, "Having a strong pathways partner from Queensland that offers talented kids a career in the NRL via the Perth Bears is tremendous for the growth of the game."
De Ceglie extended his gratitude to Tigers CEO Mitch Cook, General Manager of Football David Sharpe, and Head Coach Mal Meninga for their efforts in finalizing the agreement.
He emphasized, "The Perth Bears want to be more than just competitive from Round One in 2027. This landmark partnership is an important cornerstone to ensuring the success on the field."
