The Perth Bears are reportedly eyeing their next recruit, with Charlie Staines emerging as a key target for the NRL expansion team.
Currently, the Bears have confirmed 16 signings for their debut season, with more players in the works.
Staines is now on the radar, as Wide World of Sports reporter The Mole reveals he is being pursued by Mal Meninga and his recruitment team.
Versatile in the back line, Staines played 39 matches for the Penrith Panthers from 2020 to 2022, before participating in another 38 with the Wests Tigers from 2023 to 2025.

He made an impressive debut, scoring four tries in his first game, and has totaled 39 tries across 77 NRL games.
Recently, he has begun his tenure with the Catalans Dragons in France, netting six tries in just eight matches.
Although Staines is under a three-year contract with the English Super League club, there is a notable get-out clause should he receive an NRL offer.
This clause would enable him to join the Bears as one of their foundational players, potentially securing a multi-year contract.
While it remains uncertain whether discussions have started, or the stage they may be in, it's apparent that the Bears are still actively seeking additional talent.
