Perseverance Pays Off for Tuaupiki

Taine Tuaupiki's commitment and "hard work" have recently been recognized with a two-year contract extension.

While many players aspire to secure a full-time NRL contract, Tuaupiki has taken a unique route.

What once seemed like an improbable journey has transformed into a story of dedication, resilience, and embracing opportunities, prompting the New Zealand Warriors to ensure his journey continues.

Tuaupiki's story is anything but conventional.

He joined the Warriors in late 2022 under a train-and-trial agreement, and after showcasing his skills, he fought his way into the team, evolving from an underdog to a vital asset.

At 26 years old, the fullback, who hails from Taharoa and has been toughened by the rigors of rugby league, has committed to a contract that will keep him with the Warriors until the conclusion of the 2028 season.

"Taine is such a valuable member of the squad and has really earned the right to extend his time with the club," said Andrew McFadden, the New Zealand Warriors general manager of recruitment, pathways, and development. This extension symbolizes not just a contract, but also a recognition of his character and effort.

Andrew Webster, the head coach, shared similar sentiments, noting Tuaupiki's reliability, especially in unfamiliar roles.

"He's a terrific source of energy around the squad and we're thrilled to know he'll be with us for at least another three seasons," Webster expressed.

"He has so much to offer."
