Penrith's Cleary deal may squeeze Martin

Penrith will offer Moses Leota a new deal this week, manager Gavin Orr confirmed.

Orr says Leota prefers staying at Penrith but is considering other clubs.

Orr said: "We have been going through this process since June and this is the first time we can properly explore the market."

News Corp reports Cleary prefers Penrith despite tax-free offers from PNG Chiefs and will re-sign long-term, with the deal potentially reaching $1.7 million per season by its end, subject to expected salary-cap rises.

Cleary's injury in Penrith's preliminary-final loss delayed a possible agreement before November 1, leaving him open to rival offers.

Yeo reportedly agreed terms last month, though the deal remains unannounced.

Off contract at the end of 2027, Martin has said he is interested in moving, having grown up in Temora.

With Cleary and Yeo retained and Leota offered a deal, Martin is unlikely to remain under Penrith's stretched salary cap.
