Penrith's Cleary Charged After Qualifying Final

Cleary charged with dangerous contact

Nathan Cleary remains eligible for Penrith's Preliminary Final despite facing an NRL disciplinary charge.

The Panthers halfback was cited by the NRL Match Review Committee after the Qualifying Final against the Sydney Roosters at CommBank Stadium.

The incident involving Roosters player Hugo Savala occurred during the 40th minute, when Cleary was sent to the sin bin.

The committee classified the contact as a grade one offence, which carries a monetary fine rather than a suspension.

Cleary can therefore be selected for the Preliminary Final while the charge is dealt with.
