The Penrith Panthers' dynamic duo, Nathan Cleary and Isaah Yeo, have kicked back at Parramatta Rugby League legends Ray Price and Peter Wynn, who boldly claimed that the Eels' dominant team of the 1980s could outshine the current Penrith juggernaut.

With the Panthers clinching their fourth consecutive premiership, surpassing the legendary Eels' three-peat from 1981 to 1983, the debate has ignited passions on both sides of the field.

Price, a formidable lock from the golden era of Parramatta Rugby League, confidently declared that his 1980s squad would outmatch the current Panthers lineup on any given day.

"No way.

They haven't surpassed us.

I don't see this Penrith team taking down my Parramatta team," Price asserted during a Kangaroos reunion at the SCG.

Wynn backed up Price's sentiment, emphasizing the strength and skill of their historic Eels team, featuring Rugby League icons such as Mick Cronin, Eric Grothe, Peter Sterling, Steve Ella, Brett Kenny, and the indomitable Ray Price.

"I'm not discrediting Penrith, but we had a star-studded lineup with unmatched creativity and second-phase play.

Man-to-man, I believe Parramatta holds the edge," Wynn stated emphatically.

As the Panthers continue to make their mark in Rugby League history, Cleary and Yeo remain steadfast in their belief in the strength and prowess of their current squad, ready to prove their mettle against the legends of yesteryear.

With passion and pride on both sides of the divide, the debate over supremacy in the Rugby League arena rages on, fueling the fire of competition and camaraderie in the sports world.
