South Sydney's unbeaten winning streak has been cut short in a heart-stopping match against the Dolphins at Kayo Stadium.

A controversial penalty try early on left fans scratching their heads and divided the NRL world.

The Rabbitohs found themselves trailing 6-0 in the first 10 minutes when they took a chance on the last tackle.

Alex Johnston made a quick pass to Jai Arrow, who then passed to Jye Gray.

Gray attempted to kick the ball forward for himself, but unfortunately, he fumbled the ball when trying to score.

The referee, however, deemed it a penalty try much to the disbelief of many fans.

The decision sparked debate and controversy, with some arguing it was a lucky break for the Rabbitohs.

Despite the loss, South Sydney showed determination and resilience throughout the match.

The Dolphins ultimately clinched the win with a final score of 36-28.

But as they say in the world of Rugby League, sometimes luck just isn't on your side.

It was a tough break for the Rabbitohs, but they'll bounce back stronger next time.
