Payne Haas Eyeing Bombshell Broncos Exit
The Brisbane Broncos have enjoyed a solid track record in recruitment and retention, but they may face their first significant signing loss in the coming weeks.
Broncos star Payne Haas is contemplating a monumental career decision, as sources reveal that the rebel rugby organization R360 is preparing to present an astonishing $3 million per season offer-more than double his current earnings in the NRL.
This proposed deal, which includes tax benefits and long-term incentives, could position Haas among the highest-paid rugby players globally, as reported by the Daily Telegraph.
Nevertheless, the NRL has made its position clear regarding this breakaway competition, warning of a 10-year ban for any player who engages in formal negotiations or signs a contract with the rival league.
Haas was scheduled to meet with R360 representatives last month, but his manager, Ahmad Merhi, postponed the discussions to seek clarification from the NRL on the possible consequences.
Despite this setback, R360 remains determined in their pursuit, with sources expressing confidence that the 25-year-old will be the centerpiece of their inaugural recruitment campaign, set to be unveiled within the next two weeks.
R360 officials reportedly believe they are close to securing Haas' commitment, viewing him as a significant signing that could lend credibility to their emerging global competition.
