The Parramatta Eels are said to be on the hunt for an unsigned playmaker for the upcoming season, as they look to strengthen their squad under the guidance of new coach Jason Ryles.

According to reports from zerotackle.com, Ronald Volkman, who last took to the field in Round 27 of 2023, has been sidelined for the entirety of 2024 due to a shoulder injury that required surgery.

Facing the possibility of being unable to play again, Volkman's future in the sport appeared uncertain.

After parting ways with the New Zealand Warriors at the end of the previous season, Volkman had high hopes for a standout year after signing a one-year deal with the St George Illawarra Dragons.

Unfortunately, his plans were derailed by the need for shoulder surgery, forcing him to sit out the entire season.

As a result, the Dragons were forced to release him from the team, as his contract had not been officially registered with the NRL.

Despite the club's initial announcement of his arrival and images of him training with the squad, Volkman's playing future remains uncertain as he looks to bounce back from this setback.
