Parramatta Eels' Rising Star Takes a Devastating Tumble

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

In a devastating blow for the Parramatta Eels, rising star Richard Penisini has been dealt a horrific injury blow during pre-season training.

The younger brother of star centre Will, Penisini is set to miss the entire 2024 NRL season due to an ACL injury.

With a recovery period of nine to twelve months, it is uncertain when exactly the injury occurred.

However, the club has confirmed that the talented youngster has already undergone surgery and started his rehabilitation program.

Regarded as one of the best prospects in Parramatta's junior system, Penisini recently made his NSW Cup debut towards the end of the 2023 season against the formidable Sydney Roosters.

Having shown great promise, he was on track to cement his place in the team during 2024 and potentially earn his first-grade debut.

Unfortunately, fate has intervened, and the Eels will now have to adjust their plans without this rising star.
