'We're Sticking Up for What's Right': Inside the Lomax Legal Stoush

During a recent forum attended by approximately 100 dedicated Parramatta NRL fans, the conversation briefly shifted to one of the summer's most significant rugby league stories: the situation involving Zachary John Lomax.

Eels chairman Matthew Beach addressed the crowd at the club's Kellyville headquarters in western Sydney after taking the microphone, stating, "Obviously a very topical topic."

He continued, "I can't say too much because it's before the courts, but I guess what we can say is that on one hand, we've been trying to negotiate and get an outcome. We'd prefer not to be in court, but we don't apologise for being in court, because we need to stick up for what's right for the club."

Beach added, "What we're endeavouring to do is get an outcome that makes the football program better. There has been lots of commentary about cash-only offers, but that doesn't help in the salary cap-constrained environment to make the football program stronger … We are all about making the football program stronger."

The discussion highlighted the complexities surrounding Lomax's legal dilemmas and the determination of the Eels to secure a favorable resolution, emphasizing their commitment to the integrity and future of the club's football program.
