Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy believes that Ryan Papenhuyzen could be a valuable asset for NSW in the State of Origin, should selectors consider him for a debut.
Bellamy highlighted Papenhuyzen's impressive performances despite "horrific" injury setbacks.
Recently, he set a club points record and matched an NRL record, scoring 36 points-including four tries-during the Storm's 64-0 victory.
Although the chances of Papenhuyzen playing as a fullback for the Blues appear slim, he is a candidate for a utility role off the bench.
Bellamy expressed confidence in Papenhuyzen's ability, stating, "That will be something for selectors to decide ...
but you know he's never going to let anyone down without doubt." He acknowledged the competition among top fullbacks in Origin but emphasized that Papenhuyzen is currently in "red hot form." Bellamy concluded, "So as I said, you know, if New South Wales decides to go that way, certainly he won't let anyone down."
