On a bittersweet day, the Panthers suffered a 36-16 loss to Newcastle in the NSW Cup, as reported by penrithpanthers.com.au.

The team, facing a multitude of challenges due to injuries, suspensions, and Origin absences, had NSW Cup coach Ben Harden field a new-look roster at BEST Hub, Rooty Hill.

One of the highlights was the return of Riley Price, who came back after a nine-month recovery from serious ACL and shoulder injuries.

Price played 32 minutes off the bench, delivering an impressive 82 run metres and 13 tackles.

Additionally, the team welcomed three players from the Jersey Flegg side, making their NSW Cup debuts: Puotoa Hotere-Papalii, Sialetili Faeamani, and Zakuari Clarke.

With the squad heavily impacted by unavailable players, Jack Cole was moved into an unfamiliar fullback position.

Despite these challenges and adjustments, the Panthers showcased a competitive spirit, keeping the game close until Newcastle ultimately secured the win in the later stages.
