Scott Sattler is reportedly being targeted for a position in the Gold Coast Titans' front office, a change that could potentially help the struggling NRL team. This move might also facilitate forward David Fifita's transition to South Sydney during the off-season.
The Titans appear to be on track to finish last in the NRL standings for 2025, as they currently hold the last position with only three rounds left in the season. Although officials have confirmed that Des Hasler will remain coach in 2026, there is mounting speculation regarding his future.
On Friday, prominent journalist David Riccio disclosed that the club is considering bringing on Panthers premiership hero Sattler for a managerial position. Sattler is notable for having played 118 games for the Panthers and captaining them to the 2003 premiership. Additionally, he has a history with the Titans, having played 54 games for the team when it was known as the Seagulls starting in 1992.
His experience includes stints with the South Queensland Crushers and Gold Coast Chargers, alongside a strong connection to the local community. Sattler served as the Titans' football manager from 2006 to 2008.
Riccio shared on SEN radio: "I think we all believe there's going to be movement at the Titans around their head coach Des Hasler, but it's my understanding they're going to target Scott Sattler. Scott was the inaugural football manager when the Titans first came into the comp and was part of the only finals campaign of the Gold Coast Chargers (as a player)."
He continued, "There's a deep affinity with Gold Coast rugby league in the Sattler family. It's my understanding that Scott will be targeted to be the Titans' new GM of football, or a very senior football management role, to be part of what I believe will be a massive overhaul. I firmly believe this will develop into the next two to three weeks."
The interest in Sattler aligns with reports that Hasler has sought assistance from the Queensland Rugby League to prevent competing clubs from poaching local Gold Coast junior talent. Should he join, Sattler would likely play a significant role in recruiting and retaining young players.
