In a Saturday night clash, the Penrith Panthers emerged victorious with a dominant 28-0 win over the Cronulla Sharks, propelling themselves back into the top spot on the ladder.

Brisbane Broncos had briefly claimed the top position after defeating the Sydney Roosters on Thursday night, but the Panthers swiftly reclaimed their throne at BlueBet Stadium.

The Panthers wasted no time in taking the lead, as five minutes into the game, Nathan Cleary's grubber rebounded to Scott Sorensen, who then found Jarome Luai for a try.

Unfortunately for the Sharks, their fullback Will Kennedy had to exit the field due to a hamstring injury, but they displayed resilience in fending off the Panthers' attacks until the 21st minute.

It was at this point that Cleary's kick set up Isaah Yeo for a try, extending the home side's lead to 12-0.

Cleary's exceptional skills continued to shine, with his 40-20 kick in the 29th minute creating an opportunity for Brian To'o to score his 12th try of the season.

Cleary successfully converted, bringing the score to 18-0.

The Sharks narrowly avoided conceding a fourth try in the 37th minute when Sione Katoa managed to ground the ball just in time before Luai could intervene.
