Halifax Panthers claimed the Wheelchair Challenge Cup trophy for the first time in seven years, defeating London Roosters 46-24 at the Robin Park Sports Centre in Wigan.

Halifax, the original winners of the Cup in 2015, showcased an impressive eight-try performance.

Central to their success was Rob Hawkins, the reigning world wheelchair rugby league player of the year, who contributed significantly by scoring 22 points from two tries and seven goals.

Hawkins not only crossed the try line himself but also played a crucial role in setting up other tries, with seven of the Panthers' players finding the score sheet.

The Panthers took an early lead within the first five minutes when Hawkins assisted Jack Brown for the opening try.

Although the Roosters kept the game competitive in the first half with Joe Coyd scoring and converting two tries, they never managed to take the lead.

At halftime, Halifax held a comfortable 30-16 advantage, fueled by Hawkins' two tries alongside further scores from Boardman and Joe Calcott.

Lewis King contributed another try for the Roosters in the first half, but it was not enough to close the gap.

Overall, Hawkins' exceptional play and leadership were key factors in Halifax's victory, leading them to a significant triumph in the Challenge Cup final.
