In a thrilling match, the Penrith Panthers staged an impressive comeback to defeat the North Sydney Bears 26-18 in the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup.
Despite trailing 18-8 at halftime, the Panthers fought back and secured victory with two exceptional plays from their talented halfback, Trent Toelau, in the final ten minutes.
Now, the Panthers face a crucial final round match against Parramatta and must rely on other results to secure their spot in the playoffs.
The game started with both teams displaying immense defensive strength, but it was the Bears who drew first blood when Ben Stevanovic capitalized on a handling error by Isaiah Iongi.
Sam Walker successfully converted, giving the Bears a 6-0 lead.
Unfortunately, the Panthers suffered a setback when Matt Stimson sustained a left shoulder injury, resulting in a reshuffle of their lineup.
However, the Panthers' strong defensive efforts provided them with numerous attacking opportunities, and they eventually capitalized on one in the 23rd minute when Toelau and Jaeman Salmon combined with Jesse McLean to score a try in the right-hand corner.
