The Penrith Panthers, reigning NRL champions, have decided to pass on the opportunity to compete in the World Club Challenge, citing their players' lack of readiness for the pre-season match.

The team, who have achieved unprecedented success in recent years, are basking in their latest triumph and are confident in their ability to vie for another title in 2025, despite the departures of key players such as Jarome Luai, Sunia Turuva, and James Fisher-Harris.

With the Panthers slated to participate in the NRL's Las Vegas venture, and several players set to feature in the Pacific Championships, including appearances for Australia, New Zealand, and Tonga, the club's star players are expected to resume pre-season training in the early months of 2025.

The NRL's Collective Bargaining Agreement mandates an eight-week off-season break for players, making the return to training a non-negotiable aspect.

Despite the disappointment of missing out on the World Club Challenge, the Panthers remain focused on the upcoming season and are determined to continue their winning streak.

As they gear up for new challenges and face roster changes, the Panthers are preparing to defend their championship title with the same tenacity and spirit that have defined their recent success.
