The Penrith Panthers are reportedly set to allow Luke Garner to leave the club at the end of the 2025 NRL season, despite having a year remaining on his current deal.
Garner, who primarily plays as a second-rower and centre, has often found himself on the periphery of Penrith's first-grade squad during his time with the team.
It is now believed that he may no longer fit into the club's future plans.
Code Sports reports that the Panthers have granted Garner the opportunity to negotiate with rival clubs ahead of the standard permission date of November 1.
As a result, he is close to finalizing a contract with another team for the 2026 season.
Notably, Garner has been presented with a three-year offer from at least one club, with the Parramatta Eels showing significant interest in acquiring his services as they undergo their own rebuilding process.
Garner began his NRL career with the Wests Tigers in 2018, where he played 75 games before transferring to the Penrith Panthers at the beginning of 2023.
