Panthers Dominate Sharks in Season Start

As it happened: Relentless Penrith cruise past Cronulla in Bathurst

Penrith has showcased their dominant form this season, particularly in their match against Cronulla, where winger Tom Jenkins continued his impressive scoring streak.

Following a commanding performance against the reigning champions, Brisbane, the Panthers proved to be too strong for the Sharks at Bathurst's Carrington Park, allowing their opponents to score only once in the 59th minute of the match.

This victory marks the Panthers' 10th triumph in their last 11 encounters with Cronulla.

Jenkins, having scored two tries in the previous game, replicated his success by adding another pair to his tally, climbing to the top of the NRL's try-scoring leaderboard for the season.

Nathan Cleary, the standout halfback, shifted the momentum in favor of Penrith early in the game with a strategic 40-20 kick within the first five minutes, enabling winger Brian To'o to score the opening try shortly after.

With a strong completion rate and relentless defense, the Panthers increased their lead to 18-0 by halftime, as Cronulla struggled with ineffective tackles and poor ball handling.
