NRL fans are in uproar after a controversial call helped the Penrith Panthers end the Manly Sea Eagles' hopes of making the finals.
With Manly leading 12-6 late in the first half, the Panthers' Stephen Crichton scored a try in the corner to level the scores at 12-12.
However, there were doubts surrounding the lead-up to the try.
Liam Martin seemed to knock the ball forward into Raymond Tuaimalo Vaega before passing it off the ground while being tackled.
Despite this, the referee allowed play to continue and awarded Penrith six more tackles.
Some fans also argued that Nathan Cleary knocked on while attempting a kick, but replays suggested his boot made contact with the ball.
The controversy further intensified when Matt Eisenhuth was tackled, but the Panthers managed to score on the next play.
The decision sparked outrage among NRL fans, who deemed it a disgraceful call that unfairly impacted Manly's chances of securing a spot in the finals.
