The Penrith Panthers' NSW Cup squad experienced their first defeat of the season, falling to the Bulldogs 12-30 on a Friday arvo at Bluebet Stadium.

The Panthers had a promising start, with the Bulldogs losing Kitione Kautoga to the sin bin for a late hit on Brad Schneider in just the third minute.

However, their advantage was short-lived as Sexton found himself in the bin just two minutes later for repeated infringements.

Playing with only 11 men against the Bulldogs' full lineup, the Panthers made a valiant effort early on.

Despite a strong push from Jesse McLean, the Bulldogs' defense held firm and forced a turnover deep in their own territory.

In the tenth minute, Luron Patea seized an opportunity, bursting through the defensive line and linking up with Tyrone Peachey, who was ultimately tackled.

Daine Laurie followed up with a clever kick and chase, pressuring Joash Papalii and earning his team a repeat set.

The Bulldogs managed to weather the storm while down two players, controlling possession and ending the period on the front foot in Panthers territory.

Kautoga, fresh off the bench, powered through the Panthers' defense to score the opening try, converting the kick successfully to make it 0-6.

Kautoga struck again, bulldozing through three Panthers defenders after a clever play from Toby Sexton to extend the lead to 0-12.

Despite the loss, the Panthers NSW Cup squad showed determination and skill throughout the game, with flashes of brilliance that bode well for the rest of the season.
