In a move that has tongues wagging and fans buzzing, the Penrith Panthers have decided to give one of their young guns a well-deserved contract upgrade.

Zack Lamont, plucked from the North Queensland Cowboys earlier this year, has been impressing everyone with his skills in the Jersey Flegg Cup and NSW Cup.

Having been named as QLD Maroon's halfback in the U19s State of Origin showdown last year, Lamont's potential is undeniable.

His upgraded contract means he'll now be battling it out with the likes of Blaize Talagi, Jack Cole, Daine Laurie, Brad Schneider, and Trent Toelau to make his mark alongside the legendary Nathan Cleary in the Panthers' halves in the years to come.

Equally comfortable in the halves or at hooker, Lamont has already made his mark in the NSW Cup, racking up an impressive 16 points, two try assists, 79 tackles, and 161 running metres in just five appearances.

With his skills and determination, the Panthers have high hopes for this rising star as he continues to stamp his authority on the field.
