Owen Trout Signs with Cronulla Sharks for 2027

Sharks snap up Trout as Englishman signs two-year deal

Owen Trout, the England international, is set to make waves in the NRL after signing a two-year contract with the Cronulla Sharks starting in 2027.

This 26-year-old will be the first player from the UK to join the Sharks in nearly half a century, following in the footsteps of the club's icons like Tommy Bishop and Cliff Watson.

With a tally of 124 first-class appearances, Trout has played for notable teams such as Leeds Rhinos, Huddersfield Giants, and most recently, Leigh Leopards.

The formidable forward made his Test debut against Australia during the Ashes series last October and is eager to prove himself in Australia.

Sharks' General Manager of Football, Darren Mooney, expressed faith in Trout's ability to acclimate to a new league.

Trout's selection for the national team came after he participated in every Super League match for Leigh in 2025, which included a semi-final showdown against Wigan Warriors.
