A potential State of Origin showdown is set to light up Accor Stadium on Thursday night as two top-tier wingers prepare to go head-to-head in a battle for the coveted NSW jersey.

In one corner, we have the incumbent speedster Josh Addo-Carr, who is determined to hold onto his spot in the Blues squad after being controversially left out last year despite his remarkable try-scoring form.

He has been in scintillating touch, crossing the whitewash 10 times in just 12 games this season and adding another 12 tries for good measure during the World Cup.

Facing off against him is the in-form Zac Lomax, who has been tearing up the right wing for St George Illawarra and making a strong case for his own State of Origin debut.

Despite originally eyeing a spot in the centres, Lomax has excelled on the wing and is now knocking on the door of the NSW selectors.

With injuries wreaking havoc on the Blues backline, the battle between Addo-Carr and Lomax is sure to be fierce, with the likes of Brian To'o and Stephen Crichton also vying for spots.

Addo-Carr is not taking anything for granted, stating, "There's no question that I want to be there.

But I want to earn my spot."

As the excitement builds for the clash at Accor Stadium, fans can expect a high-octane duel between these two talented wingers as they look to stake their claim for State of Origin glory.

This is shaping up to be a clash for the ages, with both players leaving it all on the field in pursuit of wearing the coveted sky-blue jersey.
