In a classic showdown reminiscent of a State of Origin clash, Billy Slater and Michael Maguire faced off in a joint press conference, finally shedding light on a lingering mystery before Game 2.

The Blues coach, with a hint of cheekiness, appeared to confirm that his earlier jab about "glass houses" was indeed aimed at his Maroons counterpart.

"I think you all worked that out so I'll leave that with you guys, but one thing I do is that I look after my players and we look after the players so that's where it was focused," Maguire revealed to reporters, subtly adding some fuel to the fiery rivalry.

Last week, as the Blues unveiled their squad for the upcoming game, Maguire took a shot at Queenslanders who dared to question his tactics from Game 1, cleverly insinuating that they were themselves vulnerable.

It seemed like a direct reference to Slater's colorful past in the judiciary, adding an extra layer of tension to the already intense matchup.

Like a thrilling game on the field, this off-field verbal sparring adds an extra dimension to the State of Origin series, showcasing the competitive spirit and fierce pride of both teams.

And with Game 2 fast approaching, fans can expect even more drama and excitement as these two coaches continue to engage in their own version of mind games.
