Adam O'Brien, the head coach of the Newcastle Knights, has faced intense scrutiny recently, with many speculating that his position is in jeopardy.

Describing the pressures as akin to "being kicked in the guts," he addressed the rumors of his job security this week.

In a statement to Nine, O'Brien remarked, "[The reports that I was on the outer were] a bit of a shock on Monday," but emphasized that he hasn't allowed the speculation to dominate his thoughts.

He asserted, "That will not affect my ability to do my job for the team and the club, and I won't let that get in the way of anything.

Since Monday, it was business as usual."

While he remains focused on his responsibilities, O'Brien acknowledged that coping with the media attention has been challenging.
