Corey Oates, the seasoned winger for the Broncos, is facing the tough decision of either hanging up his boots or finding a new NRL home as a result of Brisbane's disappointing season.

The veteran player, known for his knack for scoring tries, has been a loyal member of the Broncos squad since 2013, earning himself a place in the hearts of fans over the years.

However, with the Broncos looking to revamp their roster after falling short of a finals appearance following their impressive runner-up finish in 2023, Oates finds himself caught in the crossfire.

Despite his impressive track record of 121 tries in 215 games, the 29-year-old is bracing himself for a bittersweet farewell from the club that has been his home for so long.

With an unfortunate injury sidelining Kotoni Staggs, Oates is expected to lace up his boots for what may be his final game in the Broncos jersey when they take on Melbourne this Thursday at Suncorp Stadium.

Despite holding off on contract negotiations until the end of the season, Oates shared on Robin & Kip on KIIS 97.3 that the club has already indicated that they will not be offering him a new deal.

In true sporting fashion, Oates remains hopeful that a strong performance in his final game may sway the minds of the decision-makers at Brisbane.

As he gears up for what could be his last hurrah with the Broncos, the winger is ready to give it his all and show what he's made of, in hopes of earning himself another shot at wearing the beloved maroon and gold jersey.
