The Broncos' victory in the preliminary final was overshadowed by a controversial forward pass that went uncalled, causing outrage among fans and leading to criticism of the NRL.

The Brisbane Broncos secured their spot in the 2023 NRL Grand Final by defeating the New Zealand Warriors 42-12.

Despite the Warriors scoring first and Dallin Watene-Zeleniak delivering an early double, the Broncos rallied back.

Reece Walsh, who had previously made an errant pass resulting in an intercept try, rebounded with an impressive first half performance that ignited the Broncos' momentum.

The first half at Suncorp Stadium saw a flurry of tries, with a total of seven being scored.

In the second half, the game became more of a grind, but the touch judge's failure to acknowledge two blatant forward passes that led to Jordan Riki's match-sealing try sparked fury among fans.

The controversy surrounding the no-call has left many questioning the integrity of the NRL and its officials, with some branding it a "howler" and claiming it has made the league a laughing stock.
