In a scathing critique of the NRL's Las Vegas promo, Brandon Smith, the Roosters hooker, took a swing at the decision to use Aaron Woods as a promotional tool for the upcoming double-header.

The Kiwi didn't hold back, ridiculing the choice and calling into question the effectiveness of the marketing campaign.

Smith's comments surely won't sit well with NRL HQ, who may soon be tapping him on the shoulder once again.

Joining Woods in Vegas were Spencer Leniu, Campbell Graham, and Billy Walters, but their promotional efforts seemed far from polished.

In fact, the US Fox Sports hosts threw the sport a curveball by repeatedly referring to it as "rugby" during their halftime segment of an NFL game.

Adding insult to injury, the promo itself featured Woods enthusiastically emphasizing the collisions and physicality of the game, while displaying only three underwhelming highlights.

Smith's criticism seems well-founded, as the NRL's attempt to sell the clashes fell short of its desired impact.
