NRL Stars Support Global Expansion Plans

NRL Legends Support Expansion Beyond Las Vegas

Former NRL players Ryan Hoffman and Chad Townsend have praised the NRL's initiative to broaden its reach globally.

The ARL Chairman, Peter V'landys, is eager to promote the NRL in various international locations through a 'global round,' eyeing cities like London, Tokyo, and Miami for potential inclusion.

When discussing future sites, the two legends had differing preferences; Hoffman is keen on expanding into the US, while Townsend envisions more games in the UK.

Highlighting the impressive attendance figures from this year's Round 1 in the US, Hoffman shared his thoughts on potential future venues.

In addition, Townsend expressed a desire to host NRL matches in England, citing the passionate support that British fans demonstrated during their recent trip to the USA.

The electrifying atmosphere was marked by singing and chants, particularly during the Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR clash, deemed the most exciting of the three Las Vegas games.

"Do we play out this 5-year deal, the contract here, and then do we look at other areas?" Townsend pondered.

"Obviously, England, the UK have such a big rugby league footprint with the Super League, there's been talk around the NRL potentially buying a stake in the Super League."

"I think it would absolutely be fantastic to host an NRL game over there in the Northern Hemisphere."
