NRL Players Charged After Round 2 Matches

The NRL's match review committee has issued three charges to players from Sunday's Round 2 matches.

Manly Sea Eagles' outside back Reuben Garrick, Gold Coast Titans prop Moeaki Fotuaika, and Dolphins utility Brad Schneider have all been charged, but they may only face fines for their actions during Sunday's games.

Garrick was the sole player charged from the early matchup, where the Newcastle Knights triumphed over the Manly Sea Eagles.

In a significant victory for the Knights, Garrick received a charge for dangerous contact with Knights superstar fullback Kalyn Ponga in the first half.

Since this is his first offence, the Grade 1 charge carries a penalty of just $1000, or $1500 if he opts to contest it and is found guilty.

In the later game, Fotuaika faced a charge for a careless high tackle on Selwyn Cobbo, whereas Schneider was charged with a dangerous throw on Lachlan Ilias.

Both infractions occurred in the match's dying moments.

Fotuaika, facing his first offence, can accept a sanction of $1000 with an early guilty plea or $1500 if he chooses to contest the charge and loses, while Schneider, on his second offence, could be fined $2500 for a guilty plea or risk a two-match suspension by going to the judiciary.

All three athletes must submit their pleas by midday (AEDT) on Tuesday.
