A recent NRL player poll has exposed some eyebrow-raising data, revealing that only half of footy stars trust their agents - a concerning statistic in a sport where trust and teamwork are key.
The RLPA chief executive, Clint Newtown, has voiced his worries over this lack of trust, emphasizing the crucial role that agents play in the industry.
The exclusive survey, conducted by News Corp in collaboration with the Rugby League Players Association, found that a mere 48 per cent of players had complete trust in their agents.
This falls well below the industry average, where 82 per cent of players overall reported some level of trust in their representatives.
"When you think about the hefty chunk of a player's salary that goes to their agent each month, it's disheartening to see that more than half of the players aren't fully trusting them," Newton lamented.
"Agents collectively rake in over $15 million per season from players' earnings, yet almost a third of players have had negative experiences with their agents."
This shocking revelation highlights the need for players to have reliable and trustworthy agents in their corner, guiding them through the highs and lows of their rugby league careers.
Trust, after all, is a fundamental aspect of any successful team - on and off the field.
