Jesse Ramien, the Cronulla Sharks centre, has recently been seen engaging in discussions with a coach from a competing NRL team in Sydney's southern region.
With his contract expiring at the conclusion of this season, the Sharks are likely to let him go, redirecting funds toward retaining other players such as Sam Stonestreet and Billy Burns.
It seems Ramien is taking proactive steps to secure his next opportunity.
Reports from Wide World of Sports indicate that the 28-year-old was spotted in Brighton sharing a coffee with Todd Payten, the head coach of the North Queensland Cowboys, alongside their recruitment chief, Clint Zammit.
Nonetheless, the Cowboys may face tough competition for Ramien's signature, as The Daily Telegraph highlighted back in February that both the Melbourne Storm and Manly Sea Eagles have shown interest in him.
Additionally, Ramien's manager, Trevor Conroy, previously mentioned that the talented centre is intrigued by the opportunity to join the PNG Chiefs, the newest expansion team within the NRL.
"Jesse would definitely be keen on going to Papua New Guinea," Conroy told The Courier-Mail in November last year.
"He has told me directly he would have no concerns at all about living in Port Moresby."
No matter where his career leads him next, boasting 171 games of NRL experience, Ramien would provide a tremendous advantage to any team looking to enhance their centre position.
