NRL legends call for voting change as identity of one Dally M judge revealed

Rugby League legends Wally Lewis and Darren Lockyer are calling for a change in the Dally M voting system, urging the NRL to go back to the old ways.

The Dally M voting format shifted from one judge to two last year, with the identities of both selectors kept under wraps.

Criticism arose after Dolphins star Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow received a point in round one despite a less-than-stellar performance in a loss to the Cowboys.

Meanwhile, Roosters player Joey Manu went unnoticed despite a standout game in Las Vegas, and Nicho Hynes racked up six points despite a quiet performance with no tries or assists.

This week, Greg Alexander revealed himself as one of the judges, breaking the anonymous status of the role.

The Panthers great expressed that the new system is "all over the place" and in need of a fix.

He disclosed his points awarded in the Cowboys and Knights clash, giving three to Tom Dearden, two to Adam Elliot, and one to match-winner Chad Townsend.

Lewis and Lockyer are hoping for a return to the traditional voting system in order to avoid further controversies in the future.
