Big Vegas change as NRL confirms teams

NRL teams have confirmed changes to the Las Vegas schedule, with NSW women's State of Origin coach John Strange expressing hope for the reintroduction of a women's game in 2027.

However, he emphasizes the necessity for the NRL to rethink the format in light of the Jillaroos' overwhelming 90-4 victory against England earlier this year.

Reports indicate that the women's Test has been removed from the 2026 lineup as the NRL shifts focus to opening the season in the U.S.

with matches featuring the Bulldogs against St George Illawarra, and North Queensland facing Newcastle.

Additionally, a Super League game is set to take place, driven by the thousands of UK fans traveling to Vegas.

Despite the massive victory highlighting the skill gap between the NRLW and the English league, the NRL acknowledges that having four matches this year may have led to fan fatigue.

NRL officials feel it's crucial not to allow this to mark the end of women's matches in America.

While Strange accepts the absence of a game in the immediate future, he insists it is essential to make adjustments for future events to adequately showcase Australia's talent on a global stage.
