NRL Entangled in Lomax Legal Battle

Melbourne Storm chief executive Justin Rodski.

The NRL has found itself involved in the legal dispute concerning Zac Lomax, as Parramatta has issued an urgent subpoena to acquire documents related to the head office's role in the situation.

Parramatta initiated legal action to block Lomax from joining the Storm, as his release from a four-year contract depended on the Eels granting written consent. The Blues winger received permission to join the alternative rugby league competition R360. However, he has been left in uncertainty after the competition's inaugural season was postponed until 2028.

In a small victory before next week's hearing, the Eels ensured that Melbourne chairman Matt Tripp must testify in person instead of via video link. Lawyers representing the blue and golds have now requested that the NRL supply all pertinent information regarding its involvement in the Lomax matter.

Typically, parties are given two weeks to fulfill subpoena requests, but the NRL is expected to submit relevant materials to the court by Friday. Following this, legal discussions are anticipated on Monday to determine whether these materials can be accepted during the hearing.
