The controversial sin binning of Harry Grant has sparked outrage once again, with the NRL vehemently denying any sort of crackdown on player contact with kickers.

NRL head honcho Graham Annesley has made it clear that there is no witch hunt against hard tackles on kickers, despite the uproar surrounding Grant's incident.

The Melbourne Storm have boldly declared that they will contest Grant's charge, much to the surprise of the talented hooker himself.

Grant expressed his shock at the situation and is prepared to fight the $1500 fine that looms over him as he heads to the judiciary on Tuesday night.

Instead of taking the easy way out with a $1000 fine for the grade one offence, Grant and the Storm are gearing up for a fierce battle to clear his name.

The incident in question involved a bit of argy-bargy with Cronulla's Daniel Atkinson during a crucial moment in Saturday night's game.

"I was a bit taken aback," Grant admitted after the match.

"I had no ill intentions towards 'Atko', I was just doing my job putting pressure on the kicker, which is just part and parcel of the game."

It's shaping up to be a showdown that will test Grant's mettle and the Storm's fighting spirit as they prepare to defend their player against the NRL's judgment.

With everything on the line, all eyes will be on the judiciary as this drama unfolds.
