NRL Club Eyes Broncos Centre Gehamat Shibasaki

Gehamat Shibasaki, the Brisbane Broncos and Queensland Maroons centre, is generating interest from another NRL club as he prepares to enter the open market on November 1.

Beginning the season on a train-and-trial contract, Shibasaki's journey has become one of the inspiring stories of the year, especially following his impressive State of Origin debut, which highlighted his strong work ethic and commitment to the game.

Currently contracted to the Broncos until the end of 2026, he has caught the eye of the Perth Bears, who are in the midst of assembling their inaugural roster for their anticipated entry into the NRL by 2027, as reported by Brent Read on Triple M's NRL Daily.

A potential departure from Red Hill may be possible due to the club's challenging salary cap situation, which involves several players commanding large contracts, including Kotoni Staggs, Ezra Mam, and Reece Walsh.

"Gehamat loves the Broncos after the season he has had and is contracted to them for next season," his manager, Wade Rushton, stated recently in an interview with Wide World of Sports. "But they haven't been able to make him an offer beyond that, and so on November 1, I'm expecting quite a few clubs to show formal interest."
