Sean O'Sullivan of the Canterbury Bulldogs and Trent Loiero from the Melbourne Storm have been addressed by the NRL's match review committee regarding incidents from Good Friday.
In the earlier match, O'Sullivan, who was unexpectedly subbed in ahead of Bronson Xerri after an injury to Stephen Crichton, made contact with South Sydney's fullback Jye Gray through a high tackle.
Despite the tackle occurring after Gray had lost possession of the ball, O'Sullivan's contact above the shoulders warranted a penalty and subsequent report by the officials.
He has been charged with a Grade 1 careless high tackle, but since this is his first offense, he faces a $1000 fine should he accept an early guilty plea. If he contests the charge at the judiciary, the fine could escalate to $1500.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Loiero was penalized for a hip drop on Penrith's fullback Dylan Edwards during the first half of their game.
Although he remained on the field, Loiero was also placed on report and has received a Grade 1 dangerous contact charge.
This charge represents a third offense on his rolling 12-month record, leading to a potential $3000 fine if he pleads guilty early, or the risk of a two-match suspension if he decides to challenge it before the judiciary panel.
Aside from O'Sullivan and Loiero, Canterbury's Sitili Tupouniua was noted for a dangerous tackle but did not receive a charge.
Both players have until midday (AEDT) on Sunday to finalize their pleas.
