NRL bigwig lays down the law for clubs eyeing off Lachlan Galvin's defection from the Wests Tigers
The NRL has stepped into the ring amidst the chaos surrounding the fate of Wests Tigers' rising star and efforts by other teams to poach him away.
Word on the street from news.com.au is that NRL head honcho Andrew Abdo has issued a stern warning to all clubs regarding the "severe consequences" they could face for violating anti-tampering regulations, following the Tigers' firm stance against any attempts to approach eager teen talent Lachlan Galvin.
The 18-year-old, locked into a contract until 2026, has reportedly expressed a desire to move on from his current deal, following unsuccessful attempts earlier in the season.
Tigers' top dog Shane Richardson has made it crystal clear that the club has no plans to let go of Galvin, who will be sidelined this week to recover from a hand injury that has been causing him enough grief to require pain-numbing injections just to get out on the field.
"He's got a contract, plain and simple.
He's in for the long haul, and we're sticking to it," Richardson reiterated.
According to NRL regulations, no rival clubs are permitted to engage in discussions with Galvin until the following November.
Abdo, speaking at the Beanie for Brain Cancer event on Wednesday, warned that the NRL will come down hard on any infringements, emphasizing the importance of upholding the sport's integrity.
"The rules are there for a reason.
It's crucial to preserve the game's credibility," Abdo emphasized.
