NRL and AFL Rivalry Escalates Dramatically

The ongoing rivalry between the NRL and AFL has intensified recently, highlighted by ARLC Chairman Peter V'landys' comments during various media interactions.

This week, the topic took the spotlight during his spirited appearance on Mick in The Morning with Roo, Titus and Rosie on Triple M, where he was questioned about the rivalry.

"Well, firstly, can you explain what AFL is?" V'landys laughed, setting a lighthearted tone for the discussion.

"How can they have a State of Origin? It's all in Victoria, most of the games aren't they?" he added, underscoring his perspective on the AFL.

His comment quickly established the tone for a week filled with pointed jabs at the rival league.

Host Mick Molloy joined in with a playful remark:

"You love kicking Victoria in the balls, you really do! You like taking a big chunk out of the Melbourne sporting market, don't you?"

V'landys, however, sought to frame the dynamics as a healthy competition rather than mere rivalry.

"No, we give them competition. As you say, competition lifts all boats," he concluded, emphasizing the benefits of their ongoing competition.
